Our cats

Alright, here is a little something dedicated just to our cats Miyu & Yumiko. They are the main reason I walk around with everything covered in cat fur!

They were born 17 October 2003 from parents Sweet Sensations Destiny (mother) & Raskan (father) at Cattery van Doekoskja. There were 4 black/silver girls and one little fawn colored boy in their litter.  We received our girls in January 2004 when they were 3 months old.

Life as a kitten on the farm was grand. Here they are playing with all the sisters, their little brother (the fawn colored one) died after birth. One of their other sisters was named Queenie. She died roughly 1 year afterwards to PK-def, otherwise known as pyruvate kinase deficiency. It's a genetic disease. We checked our two girls, and they are carriers, but not affected although sometimes I wonder about it. Yumiko is much more sensitive to everything than Miyu.

Lots of new places to explore and things to do when they arrived. Even new laps to lie in! Miyu loved trying to get up to the crawlspace near the ceiling...
Yes, that is my childhood stuffed toy elephant they are playing with...

When they first arrived...they definitely had a good time adjusting to their new place and spent quite some time together. They still do, but now only upon a sort of tolerancy basis.

Miyu

Just a few pics only about Miyu. She's our escape artist and always interested in new people and places. Miyu is a bit on the quiet side and sometimes seems stand-offish, but don't let that fool you; she loves attention. And chicken. oh definitely anything related to chicken...

Yumiko

Just a few pics only about Yumiko. She's usually the first to run if there are any loud noises or new people. Once she gets to know and accept you however, she is an absolute attention fiend. She's quite vocal as well and loves to pose for the camera. And she loves yogurt or anything that resembles a cat treat.

Here Yumiko is a little cover girl. This photo was published on the cover of Raskan (January 2010 issue). Miyu was published inside (the one of her in the snow).

Yumiko expresses her opinion, always....
